 "Long time owner-VERY PLEASED!" 2008-10-08
By Ray G. Wagner
I was shocked to see a poor review on the K-AP-1. I have been a long time owner since it was a SANDVIC K-AP-1. Best knife ever made in my opinion. Very light, flat, and TOUGH..Pure SHEFFIELD STEEL MADE IN ENGLAND. Do yourself a favor and buy one, you will be back for another

 "Bad construction" 2006-11-03
By Leon D. Wiesener Jr.
This knife is supposed to be a springless locking type knife. In 3 months after purchasing the first one from the same source, the blade would not stay in and last week would no longer lock when fully open. I have no reason to believe that this 2nd one will be any different.

 "Not As Good" 2008-06-09
By Henry Friedman (Sanger, CA United States)
Not as good as the very similar Felco #F-7. The Felco grasps thicker branches on its own, "one-handed." The ARS doesn't, and I have to hold the branch steady with my left hand while I cut with my right.

 "Weak, but handy" 2006-10-29
By PCHelp (Juneau, AK)
I own this & find it very handy-but it has its problems. Right now I'm replacing it because the gears stripped. It's rated for branches up to 4" diameter but my advice is to use it on nothing larger than 2"-or else support the branch while cutting it. Unsupported branches can be expected to sag & pinch the blade. If the branch is heavy enough this pinching will stop the blade & the gears will strip. The cost of replacing the gears is essentially the same as the cost of replacing the entire unit.
