"Best Buy for the trimming of Tall Trees" 2009-11-03
By James L. Campbell
I've been told to keep off the ladder, and I did, all because this great 21 foot Gilmour Pole Saw that is lite to control and cuts smoothly. Using the three section of poles,I cut 25 foot high limbs that are 6 to 8 inches thick easy. I had hired a tree guy for $150.00 per hour to trim some trees in the past, no more!

 "Useful tool" 2009-11-02
By R. Solt (LEESBURG, FL)
I HAD JUST PURCHASED AN ELECTRIC POLE SAW THAT ADVERTISED A LENGTH OF 15 FEET. WHAT A JOKE, TOOK IT OUT OF THE BOX AND IT WAS 8 FEET LONG, THE REST OF THE DISTANCE CAME FROM ME. WHEN I ORDERED THE GILMOUR POLE SAW I DID HOPE TO GET WHAT THEY ADVERTISED. IT CAME AND IT MEASURED UP VERY WELL. LIKE ALL THE OTHER REVIEWS I QUESTION WHY IT DOES NOT HAVE THE HOLE PRE-DRILLED OR AN END CAP AVAILABLE TO PUT ON. BUT, IT WORKS JUST LIKE IT SHOULD AND IS A GOOD BARGAIN FOR SOMEONE WHO WANTS TO TRIM UP HIGH.

"Much better than the collapsible extension poles" 2009-10-18
By Hud
This is a great saw. The fiberglass poles are strong & lightweight and far less wobbly than what you get from the collapsible pole saws...not to mention you can add more poles if you really need the reach. It does wobble a bit when you have it up in the air, but let's be realistic, it's 18' long. You don't have to worry about the poles coming apart when you're using them because they lock together very securely. The blade is aggressive but it's comparable to a handheld branch saw, much less aggressive than a chansaw. It gives a finished cut without an unnecessary amount of effort. There are several different heads that can be attached to the end of the pole so it makes sense the manufacturer would not put a hole in the plastic adapter...where would they put it? The reviewer that gave this 3 stars should probably consider hiring someone for branch trimming because this saw works great.

 "Pole needs Viagra" 2009-10-10
By Soschumi (Scranton, PA)
Ok, so maybe it's just me, but since I use this around the house and not commercially, I find the three poles (rather than an extension pole) annoying. You never really quite get the right length, they're rather cumbersome to put together or carry around, and if all three poles are used it's a wobblefest. Just not enough rigidity in the pole or in the flimsy blade. Other reviewers have mentioned having to drill a hole for the blade holder, which is no big deal since you'll be drilling through plastic. But why can't the manufacturer do it? Good points: sharp blade; cuts through the palm fronds I'm hacking at with just a couple pulls. There's also a hook to pull the branches down with that might not fall on their own. If the pole weren't so wobbly, I'd be more impressed. And yes, TONS of palm trees in Scranton. A tropical wonderland.

"Great to have an extra long pole saw" 2009-09-18
By KKID44 (SF Bay area)
Some assembly is required, drilling a hole in the plastic saw head adapter. No big deal. It cuts very well, just let gravity pull the blade on the down stroke. It is about as long as I would like it to be. At 18' it can get a bit unwieldy and bouncy, but I can cut branches I could never safely reach before. My neck get tired before my arms. What I got out of the box were three identical poles each with male and female connectors. The Gilmour web page says three fiberglass poles and that is exactly what I got. I bought a 1 1/4" plastic end cap just to make my own base pole and protect the connector. Again not big deal, but not as fancy I as I was expecting. One of those Silky pole saw look real slick and would be easier to handle, but hard to justify the extra +$100. The Gilmour pole saw is a good value.

Buy Cheap 201 Maxi Pole Pruning System

Buy Low Price From Here Now

This Pruning System enables 4-way tree pruner usage: 1 and 2 - Use the short pole with either the Ratchet Pole Pruner Head or the Saw Head as a tree pruner within 3 feet overhead. This will also work as a pruner in dense underbrush. 3 and 4 - Use the long pole with either the Ratchet Pole Pruner Head or the Saw Head as a pruner up to 18-20 feet overhead. With power and ease, this pruner tool makes pruning effortless and controllable. A conventional tree pruning tool requires a lot of strength to cut in one stroke, even for branches smaller than 1". Utilizing our patented Ratchet-Cut mechanism, our Maxi Pole Pruner System cuts up to a full 2" in diameter with amazing ease. Weighing only 7 lbs. this pruner tool can extend up to 14 feet beyond your reach. Without a ladder, the average person can now prune a limb 18-20 feet high. Here's how this pruning system works! Start the cut with a down pull on the rope handle, continue the cut by raising the rope handle only enough to engage next tooth. Repeat action until cut is complete.

Ratcheting Pole Pruner with Saw

Buy Cheap Ratcheting Pole Pruner with Saw

Buy Low Price From Here Now

This is a first of its kind! A ratchet pruner combining the leverage of ratchets, with the power of pulleys. Normal rope pole pruners require tremendous effort to cut even small branches. Pulleys and ratchets assist in adding leverage. This is the first pole pruner that combines both pulleys and ratchets! So you get double the boost of leverage.

Some ratchet pole pruners involve pulling and releasing the rope up to ten times, and while they do increase your leverage the cost is the time you have to invest in all those pulls. By combining the power of four pulleys with three ratchets, now you only pull and release the rope three times for large branches, and it's never been easier! You can still pull easily through small branches with just one pull.

You will find that now you can cut a huge limb with this, up to 1 1/2" in diameter easily. No more getting the pruner stuck in the tree because you can't pull hard enough to cut all the way through the branch the first time. No more pulling so hard the rope breaks. This tools practically cuts the branch for you.

For larger branches simply attach the pruning saw and cut branches up to 6" in diameter. This tool features an extra long 6.5'-13' fiberglass pole that allows you to reach heights of up to 20'. The strong cam lock on the pole allows you to lock in the height at different positions, and adjustment is simple. The pruner blade is replaceable and resharpenable. This tool is strong, and built to last.
We know you will love our Ratchet Pole Pruner with Saw, so we stand behind our ratcheting pole pruner with our solid three year guarantee.

"Tanaka comercial grade pole saw. TPS-210" 2008-10-25
By Bradley J. Hardy (louisiana USa)
I purchased this pole primarily to cut a pecan tree branch. This branch, (actually part of the main truck of a 30 plus year old tree)was snapped during hurricane Ike. The branch was about 30 feet up and still connected to the tree. I used my tractor w/pallet forks to get me up part way. The saw cut thru the green hardwood like butter. The little saw makes a very aggressive cut. I did notice some vibration which caused the saw to bounce some. This wasn't to bad but worth mentioning. I did see tanaka sells extensions for this saw offering even greater reach. The quality control that went in to making this saw is apparent the minuite you take it out of the box.Attaching the saw to the string trimmer is not quick attach. It will take about 10-15 minutes. This inconvience can be mitigated by planning your work ahead of time. In other words plan on doing all your tree pruning at once to avoid having to switch back and forth. Despite the inconvincience of not being a true quick attach accessory i'm very happy with my purchase.

Buy Low Price From Here Now

A True Professional Heavy Duty Aluminum Pole Saw - the pole saw of choice by professionals. The Hayauchi pole saw has rigid aluminum poles that quickly extend to desired cutting length. The base pole has a comfortable rubber grip. The extension lock with spring loaded buttons at the end of each length. The nearly 16-inch blade not only sports the largest teeth available in a razor tooth design, but has a sharpened base and tip for scoring the branch, to avoid ripping damage to the branch collar. The upper sickle is used to cut vines; the lower one - to undercut bark allowing a clean cut without damaging the tree. The aluminum alloy extension pole is oval shaped, giving precise control to the direction of the saw blade (especially important for high cutting) and also giving strength and rigidity to the pole, reducing bending to the minimum. Push buttons allow multiple length adjustments and safety clamps hold the extensions firmly in place. A rubber hand-grip ensures good hold and control. The blade is adjustable for lower or higher cutting. Limited lifetime warranty against defects in material and workmanship.

"My gosh, what a fantastic saw!" 2009-06-25
By Comdet
Up until recently, I was using a pole saw/lopper combo that I bought from a big box retailer. Thought that all pole saws were pretty much the same. Boy, was I wrong!

I purchased the 21 foot version of this, and have been absolutely amazed at how well it works. First and foremost, the saw itself is incredible. Cuts through limbs like butter. It has a blade so you can score the bark to prevent tearing, and is built to minimize (actually, pretty much eliminate) having the saw get bound into the cut.. I've gone through 6+ inch branches without any problem. Just let the saw do the work, and remember that it is only cutting on the downstroke.

The pole itself is also a pleasure to use. Very lightweight, but still sturdy. It has a double locking method (a button that clicks into a hole, plus the customary friction snaps) that completely prevents the pole collapsing regardless of how rigorous you're sawing. Note, however, that it is not infinitely adjustable -- to use both methods to secure the pole, you have to fully extend each segment. Now, you can use just the friction snaps and they will hold the pole, but not as securely as using both methods.

There's another model (Hyate) that is even more advanced, with a more rigid pole and even better saw. I went with the Hayauchi for three reasons: cost, lighter weight, and (most important) the fact that you can purchase a lopper head attachment. The latter is not made by Silky, but, from what I've read so far, is of comparable quality. It only fits on the Hayauchi, so if you want to switch out the blade for a lopper, this is your only option. I have not yet purchased the lopper head, but will update this review once I have it and have used it a bit.

There's also two options for a hook. Get the hook that only works with the Hayauchi, NOT the Hook Fox. The Hayauchi-only hook attaches more securely to the pole than the Hook Fox (plus is about half the cost).

If you're looking to do some trimming without using a ladder, this tool is a must have. For me, it's paid for itself many times over already since it eliminated the need to hire a tree guy to prune the higher limbs. Plus, just like in Kill Bill, you can be armed with some fantastic Japanese steel!

 "Excellent pole saw!" 2009-05-27
By R. H. Tulis (Willington CT USA)
I purchased this saw primarily because of the good reviews and was not disappointed. I was also sold on this model because there is a lopper attachment available for the handle (a future purchase). Once I learned how to adjust the telescoping feature of the handle (so I could keep the weight closer to the ground) I found it very easy to use. Make sure to have some blade cleaner around to keep the saw clean - I've been trimming quite a few pines and the resin/sap starts accumulating quite quickly. Gets a little tiring when trimming 4"+ diameter branches on oaks, but it will get through them. Highly recommended if you intend to do a lot of high trimming.

 "trimming a large branch" 2009-02-04
By Luc (Northern NJ)
I had a large branch (8") that needed to be trimmed and it was way too high for anything else. I managed to saw the branch off without too much difficulty using the 21 ft version. The saw is very light and well constructed. It does flex quite a bit when fully extended but it did its job and now I am confident about tackling other trimming jobs that had been out of range in the past.

 "Great small Saw" 2009-09-10

I used this saw to cut both wet and dry tree branches up to 10" thick with no problems. The saw easily attaches/detaches from the pole so that you can use it according to your preferences. Also, it is light and very powerful - I did not experience any stalling.

Read the user manual that comes with it, and use the appropriate chain saw oil and you will not have any problems with this chain saw. This is a great tool for any homeowner with trees around the property and I strongly reccomend it.

"A Bit Heavy, But Works Great" 2009-08-12

I found this pole saw to be a little heavy, especially at full extension. I needed to take a short break after cutting two or three limbs with the saw fully extended. However, I would recommend to nearly anyone because it is so veratile and cuts quickly. Mounting and dis-mounting the saw from the pole is easy, and takes less than 5 minute. Using the saw without the pole is a pleasure. It seems to be well designed and well made, so I expect it to last. Time will tell. I would buy it again.

 "Really good tool" 2009-06-09
By C. Bowers (Massachusetts)
I have had some dead limbs on a large oak that I have wanted to remove for a couple of years. They were just too high and big to reach and cut with my manual pole pruner and operating the pole pruner from a ladder is really hard. Starting a gas powered chain saw from a ladder is near impossible and very dangerous. I thought about hiring it done but the cost doing that was more than I wanted to pay and I am a real do it myself type. I saw this tool and figured that it would probably do the job. It did - beyond my expectations. It is very controllable, has plenty of power and the ability to use it without the pole is a nice feature. The manual oiler, push the cap, worked fine although it is easy to overoil. It is also easy to not close the cap tightly. This is a well made tool that functions as advertised. As with all of the pole saws the saw end is a bit weighty fully extended and the advertised reach is including your reach. A good friend once told me to never buy a cheap tool because they last forever and never satisfy. I would rank this saw as a really good tool.

By M. Campbell (Phoenix, AZ)
This is one of the best tools I've ever purchased. I wanted a pole saw that wasn't a commercial tool but could handle a lot of work. I've trimmed numerous trees in my yard and even removed an established tree with a 12" trunk with ease. What used to take me days, takes me hours. The saw is easy to operate and performs well. I've had no problems with the chain as many people comment with other saws. I will agree that it is a bit awkward to reach some of the high branches due to the weight of the saw being at the far end of the pole. Also, when you want to switch between just the chain saw and the pole saw, it takes a few minutes to take apart and put together. However, these minor inconveniences are worth the time and effort savings.
